Out on a Lim with EdTech

I am a teacher at a juvenile center.  My students reside in this facility, 24/7, for 8-12 months.  These students are often unable to participate in off-campus activitites, due to security reasons, discipline issues, etc.  Many of these students, however, lack real word experiences, and could greatly benefit from field trip activities.  Virtual field trips seem to be an ideal solution to this problem.

I am most interested in the activity mentioned in this article concerning a visit to our legislators in Washington D.C.   This seems to be an excellent way for my students to have the opportunity to see how our governrment works, and to be able to ask questions of our elected officials.

The Black History Month activity also offers an excellent educational opportunity.  Although most of my students are not at the elementary level, they all share an interest in poetry, and this presentation seems to be one that would hold their interest as they learn about Black History.

The Columbus Zoo virtual field trip also presents an excellent educational opportunity for my students, as many of them have never visited a zoo.
